Mr. Pinkerton and Mrs. Pinkerton
I have taught at Edison for 18 years.
I have a Master of Education degree in secondary English from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in English Literature and U.S. History from Wabash College. I also did graduate work at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2006. Before I started teaching in 1989, I was a newspaper reporter and editor. I met my wife when we both worked for a national cattle newspaper in Kansas City.
My wife, Wendy, is a University of Illinois and University of Florida graduate. We have been married 31 years. She is a partner of Demeter Communications, based here in Champaign. I have a 21-year-old son, Aaron, who graduated high school in 2012; Aaron is attending the University of Missouri this fall as a senior majoring in Sport Management. I have a Miniature Schnauzer named Roxy, three cats named Bob, Sam and Priscilla, and a tarantula named Ted.
I read a lot--at least 50+ books a year; I'm a big fan of ebooks and always keep several on my phone and Kindle. I also play golf, kayak, fish and work out at Planet Fitness 3-5 times a week. I usually ride a bike every day to Edison, even during the winter.
Those entering my classroom will note that I love books, sports, jazz and the Three Stooges.
I love bowties.
